BongCauldron – Binge Review

BongCauldron - Binge

Riffs, YEAH, can U dig it? Hell Yeah! BongCauldron deliver high powered, performance spec riffing doom rock n roll! There is such power here, it is not surprising its recorded at Sky Hammer studios. It isn’t long until they are singing ‘Drinking from the skulls of my enemies’, so you can get the gist of this album and this band. The pomp of NWOBHM, and the bottom end of sludge. And after sharing stages with the likes of EHG, COC, Yob, Weedeater and Monolord it shows how they have absorbed these bands through sonic osmosis and blended them in to Bong Cauldron. As if three witches met over the cauldron…. “Eye of God, tail of Yob, wing of Monolord, heart of Pentagram…” and have conjured up the beast from the depths.

“Bigfoot Reigns” cranks up the momentum in to Black Tusk type territory as it romps though a boogie based rhythm but played at astonishing levels of power.

Release date: December 1, 2017
Label: APF Records

Whereas “Hopeless” brings out the softer side of these Yorkshiremen, a plucking intro leads on to powerful bangs and crashes, but at a slower rhythm, but they can’t hold it down as the riffs and speed breaks loose and bounds across the finishing line.

A Three-piece power house indeed. Having released an eponymous mini lp on Super Hot Records, they are now ready to conquer the world with their boogie based banging and crashing Bong Cauldron of frogs n snails n puppy dog tails…

You never need to ask a Yorkshireman where he’s from, as he will have already told you. And here they are, finishing with “Yorkshire Born.” A thrash-tastic cacophony to end on!

They wear their heart on their sleeves: “Born, got drunk, played riffs, we’ll eventually die”
